TIPS FOR PARENTS:
Food shopping gives you
a great opportunity to practice Spanish. The ethnic food or produce sections of the supermarket are places In which children can identify foods of the Latin culture. You could even visit specialty Latin food stores for more variety.
Your child can practice
counting (counting the cans on shelves or cartons in the dairy section...uno, dos, tres....). Find a store
that sells magazines and books in Spanish and remind your child he/she will be able to understand if he concentrates during class. Label objects around the child's room or throughout your home both in English and Spanish.
If you have friends who
speak Spanish invite them over or start to correspond with.
